Privacy policy

Last updated 2026-07-07

This page explains what information LinkMap collects when you visit and how we use cookies. Short version: we try to collect as little as possible, and anything optional is off by default until you opt in.

What we collect

  • No account, no profile. LinkMap does not require sign-up. There is nothing to log in to.
  • Basic server logs. Our hosting provider may temporarily record standard request metadata (IP address, user-agent, referrer, timestamp, requested URL) to keep the site running and to defend against abuse. Logs are rotated on a short schedule.
  • Local storage. Your browser may store small preference values locally — your chosen theme (light / dark) and your cookie consent choice. These never leave your device.

Cookies

LinkMap distinguishes between two kinds of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Essential. Required to serve the site (e.g. our CDN / DDoS protection may set a short-lived cookie). Always on.
  • Advertising & analytics (optional). LinkMap may in the future use third-party advertising and analytics — for example Google AdSense, Google Analytics, or similar providers — to help keep the directory free to use. These providers may set cookies or use similar identifiers to serve ads (including personalised ads where you consent), limit ad frequency, measure ad performance, and detect fraud. This category is off by default and only loads if you tap "Accept" in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time by clearing site data in your browser or via the banner (which reappears if no choice is stored).

Advertising partners

If and when advertising is enabled, third-party vendors — including Google — may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to LinkMap or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising via aboutads.info.

Third-party links

Every entry in the directory takes you to an independent third-party website. Once you leave LinkMap, that site's own privacy practices apply. We have no visibility into what they do with your visit.

Your rights

Because we do not create accounts or profiles, there is generally nothing personal to access, correct or delete. If you believe we hold information about you and want to exercise a data-protection right (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, or similar), contact us and we will respond within a reasonable time. EU / UK / EEA visitors: you can also withdraw advertising consent at any time via the cookie banner.

Children

LinkMap is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page.
